We receive more than 5,000 calls each year from interested families - an average of 20 calls per day. Parents rely on Child Start's impartial, computerized matching of their needs with licensed or registered providers. We always need more providers to meet the demands for quality child care.
Computerized Referrals
Here's how the service works: Parents tell us the type of care they want, the ages of their children, their schedule, what areas of town they prefer, and any special needs they may have. Our computer matches them with all the providers listed with us who meet the family's needs and have openings. We provide the parents with a random list, and then they decide which providers to contact.
Free Listings
It's easy to be listed with us. If you have a valid Kansas child care provider license or registration, just call us at 682-3962 or 1-800-684-3962 to receive a Child Start Service Application. That's all there is to it. There's no fee. The referral service is free to both parents and providers, because the program is funded by the United Way Of The Plains .
Free Advertising
By registering with us, you'll benefit from free advertising. We advertise the referral service in local papers and regional phone books. Such advertising works - the number of calls from families requesting information about child care providers increased by more than 10% each year.
